A point in space
China is one of the biggest and most populated countries in the world, and Chengdu is one of its biggest cities. A point in space revolves around the question how to preserve human scale in this context. In the very core of noise, rush and concrete, two different spaces, only a few meters distant from one another, offer an oasis of peace, quiet and and introspection to the citizens and visitors of Chengdu. Each one of them from its different but still complementary approach, Taikoo Li Monastery and Fangsuo Bookstore are places that contribute to preserve the city’s balance and traditional link to slow lifestyle.
