Family Dishes

Although Chinese cuisine is recognized throughout the globe, there are dishes that are not known, such as family dishes. Through the lens of Mexican filmmaker Joel Ortega, we enter a small apartment in Chengdu, Sichuan, where Huang Xiaoman and her grandmother Liu Shufang explain the relevance of these family dishes in China, as well as the changes that the country’s cuisine has had to throughout its own history. But above all, we enter the family memory and the flavors of home that certain dishes evoke, with a deep understanding of the true meaning of a meal cooked by your grandmother.
