(Work introduction)

In the performance of the intangible cultural heritage of Anshun Tunpu, performers wear warrior-like attire with a wood mask covering their face. Adorning this, the dance and sing ecstatically. The mask is an important element of the performance and catalyzes the identity transformation. The masks also have their own intricate journey before they find themselves on the stage. From a tree struck down, wood is carved, polished, colored and painted skillfully by talented craftsmen. Masks are the second creation and interpretation of nature, but also the second nature of the craftsmen and their hands when equipped with tools and creativity.
