纪录片记录了一个土生土长的兰州小伙，年轻和充满野心，在外地上完大学毕业后，外出求学因为爱兰州的人，而留在了这座他并不喜欢的城市，在朋友们的巨大支持下，成立了自己的影视公司—赤橙影视工作室，并且成功拍摄了有关兰州人的首部微电影《练手》，三年拍摄共三部。

电影《练手》的主题就是兰州人讲情义，这个纪录片也以情义为主题，通过人物采访的形式记录了赵阳在拍这三部电影过程中朋友给他的帮助与鼓励，也分享了从创建工作室到电影成功拍出这中间的许多关于情谊的故事。
