(Work introduction)
The girl at the Opera is the result of the encounter of two different cultures. An Argentinean young girl, obsessed with musical theater, visits Yuelai Tea House and is fascinated by the ancient art of Sichuan Opera. Through her many visits to this traditional place, she not only gets to know the routines of the Opera artists, but also those of Yuelai Tea House goers, a symbol of Chengdu’s slow lifestyle. However, the girl from the title is not this young girl, but a little child – the daughter of two Opera artists – whose presence will spark in the foreign visitor some questions regarding her love of musical theater and how traditional arts can be transmitted to younger generations.
