Minosoa interviewed several rice farmers. Malagasy farmers complain about declining rice yields. She describes the problems faced by farmers in Madagascar. And she took a closer look at the impact of this on the people in difficult circumstance.

She also visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to know about the government’s strategy to rapidly increase productivity so that Madagascar can achieve its goal of food independence.

Chinese hybrid rice has been found to be one of the most effective solutions. Minosoa continued the investigation and visited some of the trial areas and interviewed farmers about the benefits of growing this rice. In her discussions with farmers, some who had not yet grown the hybrid rice were persuaded to grow it.

Therefore, she urged all those responsible for hybrid rice to do their best to facilitate Malagasy farmers’ access to hybrid seed so that Madagascar can quickly become food self-sufficient.
