In the Hutongs of Beijing, there are many people who are entranced by the activity of raising pigeons, with some having tens, or even hundreds, of pigeons living upon the roof of their own home. Here we explore the traditional and humble way of living that these pigeon keepers exhibit, following Qi Jingsheng, a pigeon enthusiast, and his wife Yang Huiying, as they welcome us into their home. Their conflicts and triumphs regarding this pigeon raising lifestyle are revealed, whilst we learn about the intricacies of the environment that is fostered by this unique situation of caring for a flock of pigeons that reside upon their rooftop.
