The film takes place in the Northeast region of Liaoning (China), a spirit lives right next to the Inner Mongolian border and its deserts. Zhangwu is reference for its desert control internationally, a green land that is built over the sandy soil. The population tells by means of interviews, songs, symbols and myths how the past, present and future of this place molds the folkness. The documentary is the director’s visual daydreaming and a glimpse of the town where its residents share a unique spirit. It could be more than a motto or a culture of habits but something perennial that runs through their veins and cells.
