(Work introduction)
In Chaozhou, the flames of the kiln have burned for centuries, bearing witness to the enduring legacy of ceramic craftsmanship. Clay is slowly shaped by the artisan’s hands, echoing the way people evolve with time—growing, changing, becoming. From raw clay to finished porcelain, each piece goes through dozens of steps—much like the human journey, marked by trials, transformation, and quiet perseverance.
This documentary follows the perspective of director Triin Rennit, offering an intimate glimpse into the daily lives of Chaozhou artisans—capturing not only their craft, but also how this age-old tradition shapes their pace of life and ways of being. Much like the clay they mold, they themselves are gradually shaped—refined by time, honed through their tireless work. Each porcelain piece is one of a kind, just like every individual—weathered by hardship, reshaped by experience, yet still glowing with inner light. And that light will carry forward, guiding the next chapter of cultural inheritance.
