This film unfolds as an epistolary letter to renowned documentarian Chris Marker, its title subtly evoking his celebrated works in East Asia. Through a lyrical, reflective voice-over narration, it contemplatively meditates on how collective memory and the safeguarding of personal narratives underpins a history that cherishes identity instead of erasing it. My journey takes me to Tacheng, where I stumble upon a Russian ice-cream (morozhenoe) shop and encounter locals who warmly share their families’ intimate, multigenerational  stories. These vivid recollections of Russian people in this region of China stitch together past and present, revealing the deeply transformative power of storytelling to bridge cultural divides and sustainably preserve fragile memories for future generations to cherish.
